What I do.

Freelance information (or knowledge) architecture is what they call it - but that's just a label.

I've found there's a bit of a pattern to what I do for clients, gained from the people, projects and organisations I've been involved with since I went freelance in 2007. I've broken it down into these three things:

Taking a step back and looking at the entire user experience (UX), I use a tangledom framework that I've developed to help me get to the core of an organisation’s tangles faster. I can then work on designing and developing solutions based on each organisation, its people, its content and the systems.

Examples of the problems and challenges clients approach me with are:

“We want to buy a search engine but want to make sure we fully leverage that investment by fixing some of our information or system issues first”

“We still can't find the things we need when we need them, even though we've bought all the tools we were told we needed to solve this”

“Our information and knowledge is all over the place and people find it difficult to create, manage, use and share it”

You can find more examples over on the Case Studies page.
